Dr. Sean Daugherty
Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine
Dr Sean Daugherty is a psychiatrist and addiction specialist seeing patients aged 17 and over. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP), with additional qualifications in Addiction Psychiatry. He completed his medical degree at the University of Notre Dame Australia, followed by generalist psychiatry training at the Royal Hobart Hospital. During this time, he held leadership positions, including Principal Psychiatry Registrar with the Tasmanian Health Service (South).
Dr Daugherty undertook advanced training in addiction psychiatry with St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and the Tasmanian Health Service, working within the Department of Addiction Medicine and Alcohol and Drug Services South, respectively. His clinical work has included roles within the Victorian Government’s emergency department mental health, alcohol and other drug (ED-MHAOD) hubs and the Hamilton Centre, delivering integrated care for individuals with co-occurring substance use and mental health conditions.
Dr Daugherty also works as a consultant psychiatrist and addiction specialist at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and The Victoria Clinic in Prahran both located in Victoria. Dr Daugherty’s practice is grounded in a biopsychosocial model of care, with a strong commitment to supporting individuals and families affected by substance use disorders and comorbid psychiatric conditions. His professional interests include the ongoing development of integrated models of care and advocating for systemic improvements at the intersection of psychiatry and addiction medicine.
